Just another day...

When my dad was alive and it was his birthday, he always said "just another day". It always made me laugh because he wasn't wrong. But it did make me look at how I wanted to spend my birthday. So I made a rule - I don't work on my birthday. It's that simple. I take the day off and I do whatever I want. Wake up to an alarm? Definately not. Stay in my jammies? Maybe. Go out for lunch or dinner? Probably. Craft? Most likely!

My mom also had words of wisdom - celebrate when it works. This wasn't just for birthdays - she applied this to all holidays. It really took the pressure off when I had my own family. Would she have loved to spend every birthday and holiday with us on the specific day - of course - but she understood it was the time together, not the specific day that mattered.

I miss them both so much. I wonder what they would say about this business I launched. My dad, who ran his own business, probably would have told me I'm nuts. My mom, who was a crafter, probably would have thought it was a cool idea.

So today I'll spend my "just another day" not working, crafting, having a meal with one of my kiddos that is able to come home and hoping the deer stay out of my flower bed.

To celebrate, if you create an account between now and April 30th, I'll send you a coupon code that you can use to shop through May 31st. Come check out the over 400 hundred cards that are in inventory ready to ship!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend! I'm off to make make some cards!
